Bio

Amy Lane graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Chemistry from Indiana State University in 2003.  Her path then turned southward to Atlanta for graduate school at Georgia Institute of Technology.  There, Amy studied under Dr. Julia Kubanek, exploring the ecological roles and drug discovery potential of natural products from macroalgae and freshwater plants.  Amy earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry at Georgia Tech in 2008, and then joined the Moore lab as an NIH IRACDA postdoctoral fellow.  Amy is now exploring the biosynthesis of natural products by marine actinomycetes, with a particular interest in production of DNA-interfering molecules by Salinispora spp.  As part of the NIH IRACDA fellowship program, Amy is also pursuing teaching activities at San Diego State University.
